Open Access Endoscopy

What is Open Access Endoscopy?

Open access endoscopy/colonoscopy means that your GP can refer you directly for an endoscopy or colonoscopy without needing to see a gastroenterologist first in our rooms.

This streamlined pathway allows eligible patients to have their procedure performed sooner, reducing wait times and the number of appointments required.

Am I Eligible?

Open access endoscopy is suitable for patients who meet the following criteria:

  • Age under 80
  • BMI below 40
  • No blood thinners (except aspirin)
  • No major medical conditions (cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, poorly controlled diabetes, or obstructive sleep apnoea)

If you do not meet these criteria, a consultation with Dr Fazal prior to the procedure may be required to ensure your safety.
